Rock & Roll Feature: Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac Plays the Blues

This is the sixteenth in a series of Rock & Roll features I'm writing for this site. I'm a rock and roller, so this column is a way for me to feature a different album that I like, from different genres every month.

King Crimson Live and the Incredible Guitar Work of Robert Fripp

In the realm of progressive rock there seems to be a band that I have been trying and trying to get into for years: King Crimson. I don't know what it is that has kept me from really getting into their work before, especially because I've been a fan of the guitar work of Robert Fripp for some time. Maybe I've just finally reached the point in my musical tastes and especially my guitar playing where they fit in well. Recently I've been listening to a lot of music from this band and seeking out some of the early footage of them playing live to really get a grasp of what they're all about...

Commemorating the Birthday of George Harrison

Today is a special anniversary in the rock and roll world. George Harrision would have turned 65 on February 25 2008. Although he has been dead for almost 7 years now, I find his music to be just as powerful as always and thought that it would be worth commemorating George's birthday.

Santana Live in Chicago 77

Back in 1977, a legendary band who took their name from their wailing guitarist, came to Chicago. I'm talking about Santana of course, and they played with guests Tower of Power. I wasn't around back in 77 to go to the show, but I am going to see Santana (I'm a long time fan actually) this spring for the first time, and so I thought I'd check out some of the live clips of the band throughout the years. I came across this show from 77, in Chicago no less, in it's entirety.

John Fogerty Live on Soundstage

Public television comes through again. Last night I caught John Fogerty on Soundstage... on PBS... promoting his latest album. Although it was slated to be two parts (and the songs he performed seemed to indicate otherwise), it was a great show that confirms for me, once again that John Fogerty is one heck of a performer and musician.

Thoughts on Tom Petty and the Super Bowl Half Time

Well another Super Bowl has come and gone here in the United States. This year, (for a change maybe) the game was actually really exciting and there were even some decent commercials to keep everything engaged as well. The halftime show was Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers and I thought they put on a good show as well, although maybe a different show than we're used to seeing for this event.

Rock & Roll Feature: Marc Bolan Is the Electric Warrior of T-Rex

This is the fifteenth in a series of Rock & Roll features I'm writing for this site. I'm a rock and roller, so this column is a way for me to feature a different album that I like, from different genres every month.

The Song Remains the Same Part 2: A DVD Set Review

For the past few days I've had the pleasure of screening part two of the new The Song Remains the Same release. I was pretty excited about finally seeing the film to go with the soundtrack and the bonuses certainly sweeten the deal a little.

The Song Remains the Same Part 1: An Album Review

I don't know about the rest of you, but for me, one of the most exciting album releases in 2007 was definitely the expanded version of Led Zeppelin's The Song Remains the Same. This re-master and re-release was for both the original film on DVD and the soundtrack and was timed perfectly to coincide with a little reunion show the band was planning.

David Bowie Live in London 1973: Ziggy Stardust to Celebrate a Rock and Roll Birthday

January 8th is a day of rock and roll birthdays. Today is the birthday of David Bowie. That's right, today Mr. Glam himself turns a very respectable 61 and to celebrate I thought I would share this great collection of clips from a live performance of Ziggy Stardust way back in 1973.
